PHP is a programming language used to run WordPress websites, and we ensure the PHP versions of all the client websites we manage are kept up to date, running on the latest IONOS recommended versions, either PHP 3 or 4.
The PHP development team announced today 21/10/2026 a vulnerability alert on PHP 8.3.35 and PHP 8.4.26 which you may have heard about. PHP have subsequently released versions 8.3.36 and 8.4.27, which IONOS are in the process of applying to their server accounts, and to all websites in these accounts, such as yours. This should be completed within 24 hours.
These new versions contain the the necessary security fixes, and ensure your website is running on the latest secure version. We can reassure you that there is nothing additional that needs doing in the WordPress dashboard.
